Work for AP class. Practicing different digital aesthetic approaches.


The piece which told me those who ink digitally should be praised as demons ;_; Twas hard but fun.


Sketchier than I would like but I've pretty much worked it out to the point I'm not really sure I'd want to revisit anytime soon. A pretty split composition I realize, but that was generally the look I was going for. Not particularly successful but everything's a learning process.

Most of these paintings are from last semester, but seeing as I hardly posted anything I did in Situation and Environment class, I thought what-the-heck.

A practice piece I did because this was the first oil painting class I've had in my life and I sucked pretty bad at it so it was a piece I worked on to try and get past the learning curve of the medium and subject.

One of our assignments. I wanted to be more experimental with the composition and do something different from the usual things we did in class. That and also because I'm not really pursuing a career in fine arts per say and was wondering if I could do something closer to what I usually do but with the medium at hand.

Another assignment piece. I'm actually not fond of my handling of the skin but I like my handling on other aspects of this painting. When I get more time I'll work more on my oil paintings. I still have a lot further to go.

Overall, not bad for my first oil painting class I think. I had lots of help and critique from other people. I'm grateful for everyone who critiqued (Jun, YunnTsung, Gue, Robert, Zhao Ming etc) and being patient with my questions.

This isn't much but its an update nonetheless (`･ω･´)

Recently I got myself 3 different technicolour brush pens. They're of the hues right next to each of the primary colours. Its an interesting thing to work with colours that are so bright yet trying to mix them all together to get 'duller' tones to bring the pieces together. Lacking proper primaries proves to be challenging too.

Here's a picture I did with 4 brush pens only. Any other colours you see were mixed on the paper with the ink brush pens' colours. Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangements) are really fun to draw. Not your typical 'still life of flowers in a pot upon a table'


I spent Spring Break in Scottsdale, Arizona. Towards the end of my visit there, I was lucky enough to be given the chance to see the new Ducati upclose and personal before it was released to the storefront. They gave us a chance to draw it too. Such nice people ヽ(´ー`)人(´∇｀)人(`Д´)ノ~!


Took about 30 to 40 minutes of live sketching it.

Take my drawn Ducati out for a ride and it'll probably blow up in your face ヽ(´▽`)/!

Haven't updated in ages so I thought of just throwing some stuff up here. Its break time in between Character Design class and I'm running a slight fever. Its probably trying to burn off whatever's causing the sore throat I'm having but its giving me a weird adrenaline rush. I haven't actually had my mind be this productive before.

Got a bunch of technicolour markers and was just experimenting. I like fashion illustrations even though I'm not too good at them so it was me just taking a shot at a slightly different approach.

These were referenced from Vogue France. I'm not entirely sure which month's issue it is but just as a disclaimer if anyone recognizes it.


And another. Anyone feel the Bahamas vibe?

I guess we could consider this a tribute of mine to the death of all the Borders branches around the city. It was drawn in my last session at the cafe with Andrew, Cia Ee and Shadoe.

Not a song title this time since I feel this post warrants its own title.

I was approached during Pizzafolio this semester by extremely talented photographer YiFei Gu. She pitched to me an ambitious and what we believe to be something quite different from most editorial photographs. She asked me to collaborate with her on a fashion editorial set with the theme of Thumbelina. She and her fantastic team would provide the model, styling, etc; while I would provide the imagery for the background.

In short, a collaboration of illustration and fashion photography.

Suffice to say, I jumped at the chance to work with such dedicated and talented people who had a very interesting vision. This is the fruits of our efforts. The post will comprise of the illustrations I did and the final edit which was handled by YiFei. The final edit was done to her liking and understanding of fashion editorial spreads.

The project consists of four 1 page spreads and two 2 page spreads.

I helped out during the photoshoot session as well as to gain inspiration for the background which would accompany each image set. It was a fantastic experience as I managed to meet the rest of YiFei's team. They help her in most of her other projects as well.

Gosh those gif images took forever to make.

I did all these, value studies to final, in 5 days. The next time I do this, remind me to plan it out a little better. This time though, it couldn't be helped.

It was a great experience, stressing as it was due to the tight deadline and the sheer size of these works.

I'm proud to say these are the first Adobe Photoshop artworks I have done in a good few years. Anyone who knows me well will know my great disdain for painting in Photoshop since I'm an avid Corel Painter user. I do use Photoshop a lot, just not for the process of painting, much.

The sheer size I needed to work at was too heavy for Painter so I turned back to using it at the last minute. Struggling with a program I wasn't too familiar with for colouring was rather stressful but thanks to Andrew and Robert who advised at the beginning stages and gave me input throughout. I think I did quite alright overall.

YiFei put this project together with hopes of publishing a compilation of her editorial works! We're aiming for Spring Show (I think). I don't know if she will be selling the books here, or if she'll be selling them if at all but I will keep everyone posted if anyone is interested! Please do check out her works. She's a truly inspiring photographer!

Dusting the blog, haven't updated it in ages and I don't have many new things to update with either. Most of these were from the previous semesters. Hopefully I'll have some newer things soon.

A quick watercolour I did about 2 months ago of a lady at Borders. I need better colours in that palette ┐('～`；)┌ Need better control too.

On other news, I sprained my left wrist so this took awhile to type. This happened a little while ago and I'm a little better now but it didn't exactly kick start my semester on the best of notes. Here's to hoping that things get better (and that I actually update).

First art post here, fiddling with the coding and the controls.

Nothing much new since I haven't scanned anything in ages (I will get to it sooner or later, I promise) but I have select things from the previous semester to share :)
